FY21 Sustainability Framework and External Reporting Benchmark

Manufacturing leaders shared their approach to sustainability ESG frameworks reporting in a poll conducted April 14 – April 26. The report provides insights into what frameworks companies use, how they use these frameworks, which external reporting disclosures do companies participate in, and its strategy.

  • Most companies have a defined strategy – 82% of companies stated they have a defined strategy that guides their sustainability disclosure. 
  • More than half have a designated sustainability leader – 57% of companies have a designated primary point of contact on sustainability efforts at the corporate level.
  • Investors and customers are a driving force in ESG reporting – for the majority of companies, investors (96%) and customers (80%) are the key audience for sustainability reporting. 
  • Most use GRI or SASB frameworks to guide reporting – More than 2/3 of companies are using or planning to use the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) or Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) frameworks to guide their sustainability reporting within the next 12 months.
