Intersecting Sustainability: ESG and Smart Manufacturing Trends

Sustainability in manufacturing is increasingly centering on capturing long-term value for all stakeholders, not only shareholders. Augmenting this vision of sustainability are new smart factory capabilities and the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks gaining traction within organizations today.

Companies are being asked to deliver value to customers, invest in employees, deal fairly and ethically with suppliers, support the communities in which they operate, while also delivering long-term value for shareholders. Manufacturers are undertaking efforts to improve the connectivity across their footprint through smart factory initiatives. These added capabilities provide insight into company actions, measure results, and quantify the impact. ESG is helping to usher in a new way to evaluate company sustainability efforts.
