Manufacturers Alliance collected data about the plant manager’s role, reporting, and team to gain insights about this department’s organizational structure. Here are several highlights from the survey.
- While most plant managers report to production supervisors, at least 2/3 report to plant engineers or supply chain.
- About 2/3 of plant managers of participating companies reported having less than 5 years in their roles and a bachelor's degree at least.
- A majority of companies reported having one plant manager per plant and at least 7 people reporting to the plant manager.
- Few examples of the KPIs that plant managers are responsible for include safety, quality, and on-time delivery.
